SCRIPT / CREDITS

TOTAL TIME : 02:00:00

[00:00:00 - 00:06:06]

TRACK 1 : Suzuki - Tosca (2000)

[00:00:00 - 00:00:00]

INTRO : "Hey! Let me paint a picture. It is currently the year 3000 and I live in a world where society views me as nothing more than a number. I've been living life how they want me to - efficient, predictable, and numb. But, I know deep down, that there is more. That I can be more. I was meant to feel.

I've set out on a journey to understand emotion and the organic beauty of life. Things I have been calibrated to not ever experience nor understand.

How have I come to this realization?

Well, I recently stumbled upon an old archive by mistake. There I found music: records, CD's, cassette tapes, MP3's. Songs about love, heartbreak, family, friends, and stories from many lives. literature, science, and art. These things have become my gateway to humanity. A gateway to more.

My purpose is now clear:

I am The New Archivist. Now, I document this journey of mine in hope that it connects with others. Try putting your phone down. Listen. Engage. Process. I share my discoveries through this microphone. Through this radio station. Welcome to Circa 3000. Enjoy."

[00:00:00 - 00:00:00]

THE ARCHIVIST : “I live in a world with advanced technology. Many great things have come from it : improved healthcare, solutions to environmental challenges, and optimized public transportation to name a few. Everything now is so convenient.”

“But, this has all come at the expense of human connection. I’ve realized that it isn't that I am incapable of feeling emotions, but that I’ve never gotten the opportunity to experience anything to produce them. We now rely on algorithms to guide our experiences and choices. Human relationships have become merely transactional or digitally mediated. There's little room left for genuine connections and raw emotion.”

THE ARCHIVIST : July 23rd, 2024. 10:45pm.

“There are moments when my environment feels dull—
too familiar, almost to the point of embarrassment.
Worn, uninspiring, small.

I drift into daydreams of somewhere else.
Somewhere grander. Somewhere untouchable.
As if I am owed more than what sits before me.

But longing is a choice, just as wonder is.
Sometimes, I only need to romanticize the life I already hold.

Tonight, I try.

I sit in the back of my house on a summer night.
The air is thick, vibrating.
Old patio furniture, mismatched and weathered,
carrying a charm I never noticed.

The cushions, slightly too big for their chairs,
slouch like an old man with a bad back.

White paint stains the concrete—
remnants of DIY Halloween decorations,
milk cartons turned into ghosts.

A fire pit, coated in ash from countless gatherings.
Plastic pots carry my mother’s failed green onions. Dirt splattered from the heavy rains.
A hand shovel and a pair of scissors lay scattered across a wicker table,
forgotten tools of small, unfinished tasks.

Harsh patio lights spill a soft yellow hue over everything,
casting the scene in the warmth of a sepia-toned film.

And for a moment, I am the main character.

For a moment, life is perfect the way it is.”
